Ombudsman issues a new fact sheet, "10 points about Controlling and
Seeing your Personal Health Information" – Jun 16,

With the proclamation of amendments to The Personal
Health Information Act (PHIA) on May 1, 2010, Manitoba Ombudsman Irene Hamilton has released
a fact sheet highlighting basic information that Manitobans should know about controlling
and seeing their personal health information.

Manitoba Ombudsman Irene Hamilton today publicly
issued her investigation report under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy
Act (FIPPA) about the refusal by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority to release records
regarding its fees for legal counsel in the upcoming inquest into the death of Brian
Sinclair.

Manitoba Ombudsman releases her Report on Manitoba's Employment and Income
Assistance Program – May 26, 2010
Manitoba Ombudsman Irene Hamilton released a report on the Employment and
Income Assistance Program of Family Services and Consumer Affairs. The report contains 68
recommendations for administrative improvement.

Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act. – May
10, 2010
Manitoba Ombudsman Irene Hamilton released her
Annual Report for the calendar year 2009. The report highlights the variety of work
undertaken by the office, and includes summaries of several investigations and reviews
conducted by both the Access and Privacy Division and the Ombudsman
Division.

In conjunction with the May 1, 2010 proclamation of
significant amendments to The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Manitoba Ombudsman
together with Manitoba Health has produced a brochure, "Health Information Access and
Privacy: A Guide to The Personal Health Information Act".

Revised privacy awareness fact sheet on Enhanced Driver's Licence and Enhanced
Identification Card – Jan 12, 2010
In conjunction with the January 10, 2010 introduction of the Manitoba
Enhanced Driver's Licence (EDL), the Manitoba Ombudsman has released a revised privacy
awareness fact sheet for those who are considering applying for the EDL or for the Manitoba
Enhanced Identification Card (EIC), introduced in February 2009.

Janet Keeping heads Manitoba Right to Know celebrations as keynote
speaker – Sep 28, 2009
Ms
Janet Keeping, President of the Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership, will
help mark Right to Know Week 2009 in Manitoba, September 28 – October 2. Ms Keeping will be
speaking on the topic, “The Struggle against Corruption: The Rule of Law and ‘Right to Know’
– an international perspective.”

Ombudsman attends signing of Right to Know Week proclamation by Brandon
Mayor – Sep 25, 2009
Ombudsman Irene Hamilton was present September 23, 2009, when Mayor Dave
Burgess signed a proclamation declaring September 28 - October 2, Right to Know Week in
Brandon. The City of Brandon has officially recognized Right to Know every year since 2006,
when annual observance of this democratic right began in Canada.
