Manitoba's Ombudsman released a report to Manitobans
about the performance of four public bodies (Manitoba Justice; University of Manitoba;
Manitoba Hydro; and Manitoba Innovation, Energy and Mines) audited under her FIPPA Access
Practices Assessment initiative.

FIPPA Investigation Report with Recommendations regarding Manitoba Water
Stewardship – Dec 28, 2011
Manitoba Ombudsman has released an investigation report under FIPPA where
recommendations were made to Manitoba Water Stewardship. In this case, a complainant
requested records related to the establishment and operation of the Fairford Water Control
Structure and/or the Assiniboine Diversion from the 1960s to present and records respecting
the flooding of Lake St. Martin.

Report on the Process for the Review of Child Welfare and Collateral Services
after the Death of a Child – Dec 13, 2011
In 2006, Manitoba Ombudsman completed an external review of the child
welfare system in Manitoba titled Strengthen the Commitment. Because of limited results, and
because of issues identified by a number of decision-makers in the child welfare system, the
Ombudsman has issued a report about the administrative processes that have been implemented
to date, their strengths and weaknesses, and areas where improvements have been and can be
made.

On the first anniversary of eChart Manitoba becoming operational, Manitoba
Ombudsman Irene Hamilton has released an updated fact sheet on the continuing development of
eChart and the privacy protections available to the public.

PHIA Investigation Report with Recommendations Regarding the Flin Flon
Clinic – Nov 28, 2011
Manitoba Ombudsman has released an investigation report under The Personal
Health Information Act where recommendations were made to the Flin Flon Clinic. A third
party alerted our office that partially burned medical records containing personal health
information were found blowing on and around a highway and gravel pit near Flin Flon,
Manitoba.

released five investigation reports under The Freedom of Information and Protection of
Privacy Act where recommendations were made to: Crown Corporations Council, Manitoba
Conservation, Manitoba Family Services and Consumer Affairs, and Manitoba Public
Insurance.
