Manitoba Ombudsman co-hosts the Western Canada Health Information Privacy
Symposium, May 15 -16, 2013 – May 14, 2013
Manitoba Ombudsman, together with the Offices of the Information and Privacy
Commissioners in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia, is co-hosting the Western
Canada Health Information Privacy Symposium (WCHIPS) in Winnipeg, May 15-16,
2013.

2013 Access, Privacy, Security, and Information Management Conference in
Winnipeg, May 13-14, 2013 – May 10, 2013
On May 13 and 14, 2013, public sector employees from provincial and
municipal governments, school divisions, universities, colleges and health care bodies will
gather at the Delta Hotel in Winnipeg for the Making Connections: Access, Privacy, Security
and Information Management Conference, hosted by Manitoba Ombudsman.

New Privacy Emergency Kit helps organizations prepare for a crisis
– May 8, 2013
The Office of the
Privacy Commissioner of Canada has developed a Privacy Emergency Kit to help public and
private sector organizations subject to federal privacy laws to enhance the timeliness and
content of communications during an emergency, while also giving people confidence that
their personal information will be handled appropriately. This guidance was developed in
consultation with several provincial and territorial privacy oversight offices across
Canada, including Manitoba Ombudsman.

Manitoba Ombudsman releases updated "10 Points to Know About eChart
Manitoba" – Dec 7, 2012
Acting Ombudsman Mel Holley has released an updated fact sheet on eChart
Manitoba, part of Manitoba's electronic health record system that was launched in December
2010 at three health care locations. As of November 30, 2012, eChart was available at 90
locations, such as clinics and hospitals, with 3322 authorized users.
