Manitoba Ombudsman celebrates Right to Know Week, September 22-28, 2014

For the ninth year, Manitoba Ombudsman has joined with other information and privacy commissioner offices from across the country in celebrating national Right to Know Week from September 22 to 28, 2014 and international Right to Know Day on September 28. The purpose of Right to Know is to raise awareness of an individual’s democratic right of access to government-held information and to promote the benefits of open, accessible, and transparent government.
To celebrate Right to Know Week 2014, Manitoba Ombudsman invites you to:
- Visit our staffed display tables at the following Winnipeg
Public Library branches from 6:00-8:00 p.m.:
- Louis Riel branch, 1168 Dakota Street, Tuesday, September 23
- Pembina Trail branch, 2724 Pembina Highway, Tuesday, September 23
- Henderson branch, 1-1050 Henderson Highway, Thursday, September 25
- West End branch, 999 Sargent Avenue, Thursday, September 25
- Watch our newest “FIPPA Tips” video for some practical suggestions on making an access request under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Visit www.youtube.com/user/manitobaombudsman to see our video collection.
- Print a copy of our Tips for making a FIPPA request fact sheet, available in the “Brochures, Fact Sheets and Guides” area of the Access and Privacy Division’s section of our website.
- Register for the 2014 Manitoba Connections: Access, Privacy, Security and Information Management Conference, to be held October 6-7, 2014 at the Delta Hotel in Winnipeg. Visit www.manitobaconnections.ca for details.
